Comcast-owned Spectacor announced that they are going to begin construction on the first gaming-exclusive arena in the United States, for Philadelphia's Fusion e-sports team. The project is slated to cost up to 50 million dollars and is a tangible reminder of the substantial growth in the popularity of e-sports, where gamers challenge each other in video game contests in front of packed arenas. Philly's former Gallery Mall has been reborn as the Philadelphia Fashion District. The renewed area is under development by the Pennsylvania Real Estate Investment Trust (PREIT) and will feature a diverse collection of local and homegrown businesses, like Dolly's Boutique, South Fellini, and American Hats. The new space will house close to 5,000 sq feet of retail space on the concourse level of the development.
